Rancho Solano Private School

Mrs. Mary Mulligan, 2nd grade

Experience: Mrs. Mulligan has been teaching for 4 years and is very proud to be a part of the Rancho Solano Private Schools Missouri Campus family. Before joining Rancho Solano, she worked for several years as an Instructional Assistant/Interpreter for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing at the 6-8th grade level. Through our Meritas Family of Schools, she had an outstanding opportunity this past summer to teach English at our CdL Campus in Switzerland. Students from thirty-five countries attended the camp and classes. Mrs. Mulligan was recently honored by 99.9 KEZ and Ottawa University to receive the “Excellence in Education” Award for November 2008! Her second grade class is very excited about their Touch Point presentation (video conferencing collaboration with a sister school) which has them paired up with the Windermere Campus in Florida. Her students are collaborating and enthusiastically sharing information on biodiversity and ecosystem loss.

Education: Bachelors Degree from Vanguard University of Southern California, 2003. Mrs. Mulligan returned to school and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2003 after her focus on rearing three children. While working towards her degree, she participated in a grant writing project for Teen Challenge of Southern California.

Educational Goal: With her passion for education, she would like to earn a Masters Degree in Education.

Favorite Quote: “Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.” (Plato)

Hobbies and Interests: She enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and spending time with her husband and her three grown children who live in Southern California. In addition, she enjoys being involved in community service projects.
